Being a winner in the Chad Annual Business Awards has given our business an enormous fillip. Our success relies upon our good reputation across the communities served by the Chad. In a highly competitive local market for education and training provision we need to attract individual learners, businesses as customers for training, and funding organisations who need to be confident that their financial support is going to a high quality and durable provider that achieves good outcomes for local people. Being Mansfield & Ashfield Chads’ “New Business of the Year 2017” has been as massive achievement for us. We really feel that we’ve hit a milestone alongside being in the UK’s top 10% of Which? Then “Crowned” overall Mansfield & Ashfield Chads’ “Business of the Year 2017” I’m speechless.

Tempest Management Training entered the awards last year, for Business Person of the Year. The team decided to nominate our Director Margaret Tempest for this award, down to her core values, integrity and customer service. Margaret was overwhelmed with being named the winner of this category and the support she received from connections and other businesses. We are based in Mansfield and work with many clients within the surrounding areas so, this meant a lot to have won an award, that is part of the Mansfield Chad.
If you are thinking of entering, we would advise to do so, as it gives your organisation something to shout about and to be proud of. It was great to be able to put together content for our social media pages, blog and newsletter. It was great to experience the awards night with the team, and share the experience with everyone there.
We entered the awards for the first time in 2017. I wanted to show the local business community that the Baby & Nursery trade is a serious business. We entered two categories; Small Business of the Year and Retailer of the Year.
We were highly commended in Small Business of the Year, which gave us external validation that our business processes and growth were solid.
I was speechless when I heard them read out ‘and the winner is, Jack in a Box’ in the category of Retailer of the Year.
Since winning the award, we have received a lot relevant trade press, all free of charge, including a ‘retailer review’ in Nursery Today magazine, which had demonstrated to some significant suppliers that we are a retailer capable of selling their products effectively. I have also been contacted by other local complementary businesses looking at mutual promotion. All of this is because of the awards.
We believe our success is down to the fact we stay true to our core values of giving honest impartial advice and spending time with each and every customer.
I would add, that if you are thinking of entering the 2018 awards, you should go for it! After all, you have nothing to lose.
